Pastor Jonathan's Youth Message - October 2012

Greetings on behalf of our youth and all the leaders who are actively involved in the lives of our young people!
God has been doing a number of great things with our youth here at Liberty Street Church of God, and I am thrilled to have the daily opportunity to work with our young people!  I feel blessed beyond words to be able to help guide and direct them in their spiritual lives through the power of the Holy Spirit and his leading!  I would ask that you continue to encourage the youth, pray for them daily, and support them in any way you can; they are doing a great job of shining the light of Christ into their schools and the community!
This fall we entered into a new transition with the youth!  Our church has been growing in number and that has increased the number of youth exponentially attending our weekly meetings!  At our kick-off party we had a total of 68 youth.  We have divided into three groups, led by seven adults, to help accommodate the differing ages and maturity levels of our youth.  Those groups are 4-6th grade, 7 and 8th grade, and 9-12th grade!
On September 9th we kicked off our fall curriculums with a Soul Survivor party.  The theme of the party, and the entire fall is: Outreach, Outlove, and Outpray!  We as leaders are really stressing the importance of reaching those who are lost, loving those who need loved, and being in constant prayer with God!  I believe our youth have stepped up to the challenge and are doing a great job of ministering to those they are in daily contact with! Praise the Lord!
I would also like to thank and recognize those who are helping lead.  JJ and Samantha Ferguson, Mary Beth Allen, Jessica Wilson, and Wendy Ferguson, along with Blair and myself have each taken on an age group to help lead through the fall!  Please be in prayer for these leaders, it requires a lot of time and commitment for them to come and devote themselves to the youth every Sunday night, and without them this ministry wouldn’t be possible!  Thank you leaders!
I want to thank the loving members of this congregation also!  You have shown the youth your love by supporting them in various fundraising activities, through prayer, and constant encouragement!  It is an exciting time in the life of the church here in Clarion to see the unity and oneness that can only be accomplished through the love and guidance of the Holy Spirit.
It is my heart’s desire to see the youth in this church become great followers of Christ!  To see them be Godly leaders in this community!  To grow up and raise families that serve Christ and his Kingdom!  God’s doing great and might things in Clarion and for that we are grateful!
In His Service,
Pastor Jonathan

October us Pastor's Appreciation Month -  Honoring our Pastors one day a year is never enough, but October has been set aside nationwide as Pastor's Appreciation Month.  Ideas may be :  Cards, gift cards, lunch out, baked goods, babysitting, or monetary gifts.  Just let them know we appreciate them!

Come to Prayer Meeting!!  Update:  No Prayer Meetings during the month of October.  Prayer Meetings will  resume the first Wednesday night of each month starting in November.
As a church body, we have just finished studying the Holy Spirit, & what the role of the Spirit should be in our church & in our lives.  Jim Cymbala, the author of When God's Spirit Moves, says "The power of the Holy Spirit comes when people pray."
We have an opportunity now to put this into practice corporately at our monthly prayer meetings on Wednesday nights @ 7PM here @ Liberty Street.
Starting Wednesday, November 7th @ 7PM... let us seek together His will for us, His healing, His hope, & His power.  As Cymbala encouraged us, "God's not dead; he's still alive.  And what he's done through the centuries when people have prayed, he can still do today.  Let's ask the Holy Spirit to come & grant us a new spirit in our churches, in our small   groups, & in our individual lives."  "In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people..." Acts 2:17  "In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness.  We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us..."  Romans 8:26

"LIVE" Worship - If you have unchurched friends or relatives, please invite them to our brand new worship service starting Saturday, October 13th @ 6PM.  Nursery will be provided & we hope to have Sonshine Club.
This is also an alternative for those who work shift work or who are unable to attend Sunday Morning Worship.
Please be praying for the start of a new adventure here @ Liberty Street Church of God!

Knox Ladies Seminar....
After 25 years, the Knox Ladies Seminar committee felt they were called to step down & serve the Lord in other ways.  A new group of women have been led to step up & follow His call.  Their goal remains to continue the mission of witnessing to & exhorting a diverse group of women with a heart to seek closer & more committed walk with the Lord.
On October 20, 2012, they have secured last years' enthusiastic speaker, Ellie Lofaro (a national speaker & author).  Our Italian theme is "Growing in God's Garden" drawn from Ephesians 3:17!  We are very excited to see God's work in this years' Seminar!!  Please mark your calendars now & continue to pray for the committee.
To register... visit their Facebook Page or the new & improved website (www.knoxladiesseminar.us).
They are starting over with no funds to grow on.  They are requesting a one-time donation to use as seed money to get started $10, $20, $30 or another amount.  Please make your checks payable to Knox Ladies Seminar & mail it to:
