1/15 - Nancy Yates - was in the hospital in Huntsville, Ala. where she is wintering - went in w/ bronchitis & they also found blockages in her heart - she is electing not to have by-pass surgery & was going home to her daughter's this afternoon

We are offering a "Live Worship Telecast" in the Fellowship Hall to help accommodate the seating needs of our growing church!  Praise the Lord!  Anyone is welcome to check it out & share in this new Worship extension.   With video recording of the service in this way, we will also be able to improve our outreach to our shut-ins by giving them our worship on DVD. Finally, if you are absent from church on Sunday & would like a copy of any of our Sunday morning sermons, please call the church office. We would be happy to send you one. 

WWCH Channel 1300 on AM Broadcasting @ 11AM every Sunday...  The first Sunday of every month a pre-recorded service from Liberty Street Church of God with Pastor Bruce will be heard.  If you are unable to attend church on any Sunday morning, tune in to AM 1300.

To see the Church Directory online you have to go through this blog because the directory is a PDF file. Click on the link   http://directory.instantchurchdirectory.com/73945862/churchdirectory.pdf.   The Password is "church" (all in lower case letters).  That should open the PDF file for your viewing.  You may also load a free App for your smartphone.  In the App Store... search  instantchurchdirectory & follow the instructions to download.  If you wish to have a printed hard copy, contact Tammy in the Church Office @ 226 - 8672. There are also some available in the Welcome Center.  This is an ongoing process as we add new families weekly.  Please let us know of any updates or corrections.

The Library has a lot if duplicate books.  If you would like to check the book truck in the Library to see if there are any you want, please help yourself.  More will be put out over the winter.

Secret Sister 2014 -  Ladies we have Secret Sister Information Forms in the Welcome Center.  If you are interested in having a Secret Sister please have your completed form to Judy Wilson today (1/5/14)
Also, if you are interested in being in a Women's Prayer Group there is a sign-up sheet in the Welcome Center.

Are you looking for a Ministry to be involved in?? - We are in need of men & women that would be interested in transporting elderly to appointments occassionally.  Sometimes they may need to go to Pittsburgh.  Please let the Church Office know if you would consider being on a list of names for us to call when the need arises.

SonShine Club --- We are asking that anyone willing to come out of retirement (teaching Sonshine Club) or looking for a new ministry (teaching Sonshine Club) contact Hayley Jeannerat @ 764-5390 or the church office 226-8672.  We can use more teachers and helpers.  What a blessing to see children learn of our wonderful Savior.  Attention: Teachers, Nursery Workers & Volunteers -  If you have received your Child Abuse Clearance in the mail, please bring it to the church office ASAP. Mission Trip to Jamaica 2014 It’s time to start planning for Jamaica!   If you would like an opportunity to serve God on the mission field and are ready for a life-changing adventure, we invite you on a one-week mission trip to Harmons, Jamaica.  We’re working with an organization called Won by One to Jamaica to plan a trip for our church August 10-17, 2014.  Anyone age 13 and over is welcome. Harmons is a small mountain village of 3,000 people in south central Jamaica.  It’s an impoverished community with around 75% unemployment.  Quality medical treatment is lacking and money for basic needs is limited.  One practical objective of our trip will be to help alleviate some of the physical hardships the citizens of Harmons experience every day. Our jobs there may include tasks such as: *constructing houses *carrying marl (basic ingredient for making concrete)  *helping at “Blessings In Store,” a second-hand store created by the Won by One ministry, now run by local Jamaicans *repairing homes *assisting school teachers Now is the time to make a commitment to going on the trip.  If you are interested, please see Matt & Jenny Bates at the table in the church foyer.  A $100 per person deposit will be required to secure your spot.  Each team member must raise an additional $1,350 to cover trip expenses (airfare, ground transportation, meals/accommodations, etc.)  Passport not included.  The deposit will be due September 15.  If you have questions, contact Matt & Jenny Bates at 814-764-6056 or at - mrbates_2000@yahoo.com.

Pastor's Message - January 2014

Dear Friends,

As of the writing of this article for the Newsletter it is 4:39PM Christmas Eve. I am in my office and am   having some quiet time before the 7:00PM Christmas Eve Service, I look forward to that service, it is one  of the most special services of the year. I am still amazed at how quickly the time has flown by. I remember thinking back in late summer that before we know it, it will be Christmas. When you read this article   Christmas will be over. In fact, after we get home from vacation we will be thinking about Easter and what we will be doing, as a Church Family, during the observance of Lent.

There are several things happening with regard to the Trinity Point project. The last several months all the loose ends have been or are being tied up for the start of the facility. As soon as the specs come back from those who are engineering the steel for the structure, the footers will be poured. The manufacturing of the steel is in process and as soon as it is delivered it will be put together. We have really learned patience these last three or four months. It seems as though everything has taken more time than was anticipated. However, we have said all along this is all in God’s hands and it is in His timing, we all need to be obedient and patient. (I think though, that we need to have a party when they put up the first piece of steel)

We will also be giving a report in January to update you all where we are with the New Building Fund  Campaign for 2013 along with a report in the spring regarding the building information and where we are with that.

We will be starting into the process of looking for an Associate/Youth Pastor. We believe that God will lead that person to us or we will be led to that person. There is a lot to think about, most of all, we all want God’s perfect will. Please be praying for this process that we are about to embark upon. We will keep you informed as things progress.

It is an exciting time in the life of our congregation and I hope you will continue to be supportive and pray for one another and the growth we are experiencing.

I want to thank you all and commend you for your generosity. You have gone beyond what anyone ever expected in giving for the Shoe Box Ministry, the Youth Desert Auction back at Thanksgiving, the Christ Birthday Offering and all the other opportunities that you have taken to give. Your faithfulness in giving does not go unnoticed and is not taken for granted.

You’ve blessed our family beyond what we ever expected or imagined for Pastor Appreciation and Christmas. We are grateful and thank you from the bottom of our heart.

Lord willing I’m going to be preaching on the subject of prayer for several weeks starting on the first Sunday of January. The focus will come from a passage in Revelation 8:2-5 and it reads like this:  Revelation 8:2-5 ESV Then I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and seven trumpets were given to them. (3)  And another angel came and stood at the altar with a golden censer, and he was given much incense to offer with the prayers of all the saints on the golden altar before the throne, (4) and the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, rose before God from the hand of the angel. (5) Then the angel took the censer and filled it with fire from the altar and threw it on the earth, and there were peals of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lightning, and an earthquake.

I hope you will come with a sense of anticipation for what God will do in our lives. Please pray for me also, that I would be able to have the unction of the Holy Spirit, 1 John 2:20 ESV But you have been anointed by the Holy One, and you all have knowledge. And be able to rightly divide the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15 ESV  Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.

Let us keep focused on the One we serve, and keep concerned about all the Brothers and Sisters in Christ. Galatians 6:10 ESV So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith. Let us plow the fields that are ripe for harvest. John 4:35 ESV Do you not say, 'There are yet four months, then comes the harvest'? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest.

If you are new to Liberty Street C.O. G. (in your mailbox is a blue sheet with needed family information). Please place these in the secretary's mailbox.  The church mailboxes are located in the Narthex & arranged alphabetically.  Please check your mailboxes for information we may have placed in there.  If you are unsure if you have a mailbox, or you do not have a mailbox & want one, call Tammy @ 814 - 226 - 8672. You are important to us & we need to keep you updated on all activities!

Also, we have Sunday School classes for all ages.  Nursery , Preschool, K-2nd, 3rd - 5th, Jr. Youth, Sr. Youth & 3 Adult classes... check us out today!

We are offering a "Live Worship Telecast" in the Fellowship Hall to help accommodate the seating needs of our growing church!  Praise the Lord!  Anyone is welcome to check it out & share in this new Worship extension.   With video recording of the service in this way, we will also be able to improve our outreach to our shut-ins by giving them our worship on DVD. Finally, if you are absent from church on Sunday & would like a copy of any of our Sunday morning sermons, please call the church office. We would be happy to send you one. 

WWCH Channel 1300 on AM Broadcasting @ 11AM every Sunday...  The first Sunday of every month a pre-recorded service from Liberty Street Church of God with Pastor Bruce will be heard.  If you are unable to attend church on any Sunday morning, tune in to AM 1300.

Saturday Nite "LIVE" Worship @ 6PM - If you have unchurched friends or relatives, please invite them to our brand new worship service that started Saturday, October 13th.  Nursery will be provided & we hope to have Sonshine Club.   This is also an alternative for those who work shift work or who are unable to attend Sunday Morning Worship.

December 1 (Sunday morning) - Flutist David Konstantopoulous in concert - what a wonderful way to start off the Christmas Season.  Invite a friend to attend.

December 6 & 7 in the Clarion Memorial Park -  Live Nativity –  6:00-8:00 pm. (Do not forget to sign up in the Welcome Center - we have a place for you!!)

Dec. 18th, so we can let those preparing food at their homes know how many to prepare for.

Sunday, December 22 - Our Youth willl be providing donuts, muffins, & fruit before Sunday School & Church for a donation that will go towards IYC.  Plan on breakfast & fellowship w/your Church family!  Christ Birthday Offering to be taken - look for envelopes in your bulletin.

December 24th - Christmas Eve Candlelight Service  @ 7:00 pm. -- Jesus is the real gift of Christmas.

Salvation Army -  is looking for folks to ring a bell @ WalMart for an hour on the following dates in December 12,13, 20, 23, & 24.  These are the days in which no organization or church has been able to fill.  If you can give an hour, please call Rev. To see the Church Directory online you have to go through this blog because the directory is a PDF file. Click on the link   http://directory.instantchurchdirectory.com/73945862/churchdirectory.pdf.   The Password is "church" (all in lower case letters).  That should open the PDF file for your viewing.  You may also load a free App for your smartphone.  In the App Store... search  instantchurchdirectory & follow the instructions to download.  If you wish to have a printed hard copy, contact Tammy in the Church Office @ 226 - 8672.  There are also some available in the Welcome Center.  This is an ongoing process as we add new families weekly.  Please let us know of any updates or corrections.

The Library has a lot if duplicate books.  If you would like to check the book truck in the Library to see if there are any you want, please help yourself.  More will be put out over the winter.

SonShine Club --- We are asking that anyone willing to come out of retirement (teaching Sonshine Club) or looking for a new ministry (teaching Sonshine Club) contact Hayley Jeannerat @ 764-5390 or the church office 226-8672.  We can use more teachers and helpers.  What a blessing to see children learn of our wonderful Savior.  Attention: Teachers, Nursery Workers & Volunteers -  If you have received your Child Abuse Clearance in the mail, please bring it to the church office ASAP. We are in need of additional: 1) Nursery Workers - We are so blessed with lots of babies that we need more adult help.  Please see Michelle Aites if you are interested in helping w/Sunday School Nursery or Worship Nursery. 2) SonShine Club Workers - We are being blessed with more children in our Sonshine Club Ministry!  If you would llike to spend som time with a bunch of great kids, please see Hayley Jeannerat or email her @ hayleydj@windstream.net.  There are 2 groups - Younger (3yr. - Kind.) & Older (1st - 3rd gr.).  Because of age, helpers are placed with the younger group.  No need to worry about preparing a lengthy lesson.  Hayley makes a 6 month rotation schedule & currently teachers are teaching every 5 - 6 wks., but if there were more volunteers you would teach less often.  3) Welcome Center Volunteers - Please see Tammy Lerch or call 226-9680 if you are interested. Coming Up… Mission Trip to Jamaica 2014 It’s time to start planning for Jamaica!   If you would like an opportunity to serve God on the mission field and are ready for a life-changing adventure, we invite you on a one-week mission trip to Harmons, Jamaica.  We’re working with an organization called Won by One to Jamaica to plan a trip for our church August 10-17, 2014.  Anyone age 13 and over is welcome. Harmons is a small mountain village of 3,000 people in south central Jamaica.  It’s an impoverished community with around 75% unemployment.  Quality medical treatment is lacking and money for basic needs is limited.  One practical objective of our trip will be to help alleviate some of the physical hardships the citizens of Harmons experience every day. Our jobs there may include tasks such as: *constructing houses *carrying marl (basic ingredient for making concrete)       *helping at “Blessings In Store,” a second-hand store created by the Won by One ministry, now run by local Jamaicans *repairing homes *assisting school teachers Now is the time to make a commitment to going on the trip.  If you are interested, please see Matt & Jenny Bates at the table in the church foyer.  A $100 per person deposit will be required to secure your spot.  Each team member must raise an additional $1,350 to cover trip expenses (airfare, ground transportation, meals/accommodations, etc.)  Passport not included.  The deposit will be due September 15.  If you have questions, contact Matt & Jenny Bates at 814-764-6056 or at - mrbates_2000@yahoo.com.
