Things are a changing... last week the men from our Church had to take care of some business - a little reno. We are growing by leaps & bounds, so with a little stage reduction, we're now able to add seating for 32 more people. A special thanks to our handy dandy men!

Back to School Prayer Concerns
These thoughts were first posted in August 2010, but it's worth re-posting... a little food for thought.
Topics to think about & discuss:
1. Be cautious to recognize curriculum that doesn't uphold Christian values & truths of the Bible.
2. Grant the students & faculty a safe environment on school grounds.
3. With all school activities, may there be protection & safety & good sportsmanship observed.
4. Have the courage to say No to lying, cheating, drugs, alcohol, smoking, stealing, & premarital relations.
5. Instead, be bold for the Lord Jesus as His example, in actions, words, & thoughts.
6. Yield not to the pressure from fellow students.
7. Be especially kind with students who come from dysfunctional homes & lifestyles.
8. Share the love of Christ to the unlovely.
9. Develop Godly friendships.
10. Be strong facing the fear of unknown new surroundings.
11. Stand firm in the faith, as the Bible teaches.
12. Also, help the teachers & faculty to convey to students so they can comprehend, understand, & learn needful for their grade level.
13. May they know the steadfast support of us, their church family.
The Lord gave this command to Joshua, "Be strong & courageous." Deut. 31:23
"I will never leave or forsake you. Be strong & courageous." Joshua 1:5 & 6
"Be strong & very courageous... being careful to obey all the law." Joshua 1:7
"Be strong & courageous. Do not be terrified." Joshua 1:9
"Only be strong & courageous." Joshua 1:18
In Joshua's farewell to the Israelites, he said "Be very strong... Hold fast to the Lord your God." Joshua 23: 6 & 8

September 2011 - Message from Pastor Bruce
Dear Friends,
As you know we have been preaching on the theme, “The Church You Can Believe in Today.” I hope it has been an encouragement to you and an inspiration. I believe that this is the direction that God led us in and we will finish in the next several weeks.
The topics we examined were:
1. What’s Really Real?
2. We are Family
3. Saved to Serve
4. Called to Sacrifice for the Kingdom
5. The Bride of Christ
6. The Expectations
7. The Purchase Price
8. A Healing Community
The next several weeks we will be dealing with the following topics:
9. Love for One Another August 28
10. The Battle Rages On! September 4
11. A Spirit Filled Church September 11
12. A Praying Church September 18
13. Living the Gospel Lifestyle September 25
The Bible has much to say about His Church, the body of Christ and I hope you will be blessed and enlightened by the messages that the Holy Spirit has laid on our hearts.
We are gearing up for the fall and lots of planning is taking place on several fronts. Of course, there continues to be work toward getting everything in place to start on the new facility at Trinity Point. We are hopeful that we will be able to announce soon, the loan approval from one of our local banks. Also, we will be starting to nail down a timeline for starting construction and the completion date.
Teachers are gearing up for their Sunday School Classes and I am hopeful that you will participate in Sunday School. That is an important time where we can learn and grow. I want to encourage you to take part in one of our adult classes and your children will be able to participate in one of our children’s classes.
In the flurry of activity that’s happening in the life of our congregation, my question is, “How are you doing?” God’s concern and mine is always about our spiritual health. In the society in which we live, which seems to always be at break neck speed, it seems to be harder and harder to keep our focus on God. I think we constantly have to refocus and to spend time working on our relationship with our Lord. Please take time to spend with God throughout your day. I am reminded of one of my favorite passages of Scripture, (Psa 121:1-2 NIV) I lift up my eyes to the hills-- where does my help come from? {2} My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. What a comfort to know that God is there for us while we live on this side of eternity with the struggles of life. As big as God is, He is still able to help us, comfort us, and empower us to live a life of spiritual strength.
I would also encourage you to pray for others that are hurting and struggling. If you are able to offer a word of encouragement and let them know you care, I would ask you to do so.
God bless you as you and I and our church family labor on here in God’s vineyard. (John 4:34-35 NIV) "My food," said Jesus, "is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. {35} Do you not say, 'Four months more and then the harvest'? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.

Military Update from Tracy
Blessed is this congregation to this ministry!!! When we first started this it was a one time thing. We have now sent to four people. I would like to continue this. So many donations....thank you. I have heard back from eveyone that has received one in some fashion or another. So appreciated!
What I need now for this ministry is addresses and prayers. Prayers specifically to the people we have shipped to and their leaders!
~ Tim Horn (returning in July)

~ Roxanne's nephew

Now, I need another address and anyone that can donate a few dollars for shipping.
Thank you for all that are assisting this ministry to grow and for allowing those serving us to know they are prayed for and remembered by Christians that may not even know them! But, they are God's children. My prayer is for this time to bring people serving toward the Lord.

April 2011 - Youth News from Pastor Jonathan
Hello Friends!
Spring is FINALLY here once again! This is our second most favorite time of the year, fall being the first. We are looking forward to the many activities we are going to be able to do with the youth outside; like campfires, volleyball, kickball etc. This is becoming the busiest time of the year for our youth and their families but we pray that God will keep our youth interested throughout the spring and summer months so that they will continue to come.
Over the past month or so the youth have been making easter eggs and it has been quite a success already. We have earned about $600.00 dollars so far and we still have a month to go! We work on making the eggs every Thursday night at 6:00 p.m. If anyone is interested in helping during the day time please see Blair and she will set up a day and time that we can do that.
The youth has started some new adventures in our studies on Sunday evening. Our senior youth boys are studying through the men of the bible. Senior youth girls are working through a book called Sexy Girls (I know, it sounds like something we wouldn’t read at youth) it is a study on modesty and how girls can help keep their fellow Christian brother’s minds pure. Junior youth is starting to read through the different books of the bible and taking a closer look to really discover things for themselves. God has definitely blessed this church with wonderful youth and they are growing together as a group and spiritually.
We would like the parents to keep us informed of the youth’s activities outside of church so Blair and I can come and support them and be a part of their lives in that aspect as well. So please when you get their schedules for activities or events give us a copy or email us!
The following is a list of our activities and fundraisers that are coming up in the next several months. We thank you in advance for all your support and prayers in all of these events.
April 1-2nd: Spring Convention in Brookville
May: Campfire at new property
June: Youth Camps
July: Rummage sale/ youth camps
August: Spaghetti Dinner/ Camp meeting/Camping and canoeing trip

You can do this by helping provide a meal/meals to one of your sisters who may have just had a baby, or been hospitalized, or have had surgery, or a death in their family. A bulletin board will be created with church families' business information at the end of February. I encourage each of you to provide a business card or any relevant business information. This also could include babysitting information or other service items as well.
Without the knowledge of what each other does, we are not able to have the opportunity to support one another through this realm.

Youth Update from Jonathan
Youth Opportunities:
Reminder: Jr. Youth & Sr. Youth every Sunday (unless announced differently) will be from 6:00 - 8:00PM. We want to see your faces.
Jr. Youth (Grades 3 - 6) - if you are in need of a winter break... you're invited to a "NEW" Winter Retreat. Coming February 11 - 13. Please see Jonathan or Blair if you are interested in going. See ya there!
I would like to say thanks to all the parents & youth who attended our recent meeting. It went very well & I appreciated everyone's input. It's exciting to see so many people willing to do anything they can to see our youth grow & mature as Christians. We have a busy year ahead of us & I think God is going to move in many ways. Please keep the events listed below in your prayers & add them to your calendars.
* 3rd - 6th Grade Winter Retreat - February 11th & 12th
* Card Fundraiser - due February 16th
* 30 Hour Famine - February 25th & 26th
*Also... on March 10th - 12th, the Clarion Area High School will be putting on a play. We have some youth participating in the play & it would be great for some in the congregation to come out & show yout support for them!!!
Finally, Youth... we are going to be starting a new series on Sunday nights called "360 Revolution". It's going to show us how to minister to our friends & classmates. Please be thinking about 3 people in your lives who may not know Christ that you could witness to.

January 2011 - Bulletin Announcements
We are working on updates!!! If you are new to Liberty Street C.O. G. (in your mailbox is a blue sheet with needed family information). Please place these in the secretary's mailbox. Also, if you do not have a mailbox, call Tammy @ 226 - 8672. You are important to us & we need to keep you updated on all activities.
It takes a Village!! Do you know what talent or business or employment each member of your church is involved in? A bulletin board will be created with church families' business information at the end of February. I encourage each of you to provide a business card or any relevant business information. This also could include babysitting information or other service items as well.
Without the knowledge of what each other does, we are not able to have the opportunity to support one another through this realm.
Please place any relevant information in Tracy Miller's mailbox or e-mail it to tmhm72@yahoo.com . If you have questions about this request, please feel free to contact Tracy.

Back-to-School Prayer Concerns

Vacation Bible School Wrap-Up from Wendy Ferguson
The Liberty Street Church of God's Vacation Bible School this summer was a huge success! Our theme this year was High Seas Expedition. Thanks to Diane Dunlap & her mother, the stage decorated perfectly for this theme. Throughout the week, we were able to minister to 83 different children. The children learned a different lesson each day. The lessons were:
1. God's Word is True!
2. God's Word is Comforting!
3. God's Word is Surprising!
4. God's Word is Life-Changing!
5. God's Word is for Everyone!
Each evening started with Jenny Bates teaching the children great worship songs along with some fun movements. Then each age group was led by a crew leader through five different stations. These stations were:
1. Bible Voyage (Storytelling) with Wendy Ferguson, Mindy Bish, & Dawn Christie
2. Snack Station with Michelle Aites & Marilyn Smith
3. Craft Station with Jill Henry & Karen Hazlett
4. Games Station with Mike Ferguson & David Ferguson
5. Missions Station with Laura Burford
Starting on Tuesday evening, the children began to bring money to give to the Bay City Food Bank. This food bank was set up for the people who lost their jobs due to the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. Then children started out giving nickels, then dimes, quarters, & finally dollar bills. Amazingly, the children collected over $1,039.51 to donate for our mission project!
The church was full for the 5:00PM program on Saturday July 17. The kids did an awesome job. The Pool Party held after the program was a big splash; we had over 100 people attending!!
We were so excited to see so many children enthusiastic about God! As co-directors, Karen & Wendy would like to thank everyone involved for their dedication to this year's VBS program. We love you all!! God Bless!

Bonfire @ Trinity Point
The Church Bonfire on June 11th was a HUGE success!! You may not have realized, but the fact is, we broke ground on our new facitilty that evening with two horseshoe stakes! Over 90 people attended & everyone had a wonderful time - it gave each of us a taste of our future.
It was a great time for fellowship with hot dogs, smores, worship & singing with Nancy Jeannerat, kids frolocking, horseshoes, leisurely conversation, & a beautiful sunset to top it all off!
As an update: the core samples as far as we know had good results, the sales agreement has been signed, the needs assessment has been sent to the Architect as the blueprints are being developed, & the we are hopeful that building can begin when the weather breaks in 2011. Our Building Committee has worked hard to get us to point & are to be commended.
Please continue to pray for our church body & our ministry in Clarion. Seek God, too, about how each one of us can play a role in the present & in our future. Remember that althought we are planning for our future ministry, the Lord also wants us to be busy doing ministry NOW. Get involved!
Jeremiah 29:11-13 "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you & not harm you, plans to give you hope & a future. Then you will call upon me & pray to me & I will listen. You will seek me & find me when you seek me with all your heart."
A special thanks to the Growth Department who planned & hosted the Bonfire event, Matt Bates for the post information, & to Mark Hazlett for providing pictures for the slideshow.
