Dear Friends,
I guess we are in the dog days of summer! It’s hard to believe that we are here already. I hope that many of you have been refreshed and have been able to relax some. I know that many or you have been on vacations and that is a great time for meditation and reflection.
As you all know that even in the midst of the vacationing and the time of refreshing, the work of the Kingdom continues on.
In the writing of this article, I can’t help but think about Jesus and His teachings about the Gospel message, the value of souls and the value of the Kingdom of God. They all coincide with one another so that when one surrenders to the Lord, they also inherit the Kingdom and all the benefits that go along with being a Christian.
Jesus said, “…..From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked. (Luke 12:48 NIV) There is no doubt that we, as a congregation, have been given much in the way of resources and abilities to do the work God requires of us. God has entrusted us with a task for this community and that is to reach out with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We have been given the ability to do that, we have been given the resources to do that so we need to be encouraged to know that God is requiring more of us.
If ever there is a time in our history where people need to see the love of God in Christians it is in our world. Please continue to labor on. Please remember the challenge we have before us that God wants each one of us to reach one person for the Lord by Easter 2014. We are well on our way to that date and I hope you are well on your way to praying for someone specific, asking God to open the door for you to share the GOOD NEWS. Souls are hanging in the balance and it is up to us to be concerned and do something about it.
God bless you as our congregation continues to plow the fields.
Pastor Bruce
