Prayer Concerns - January 2015

Most Recent Concerns

1/30 - Lacy Magagnotti (young mother w/cancer) - passed away Thursday evening
1/29 - Beth Henry - has a corneal infection in both eyes & also the pressure in her eyes is elevated - she has been over to the eye clinic in Brookville four times this week
1/29 - Kathy Schnell (Janet Young Hetrick's niece) - has a cluster of cancer on her shoulder/neck
1/29 - Lacy Magagnotti (young mother with cancer) -  is very serious - prayer is needed for her and her family
1/29 - A Special Unspoken request (physical & emotionally)
1/25 - Marion Peltcs - is having surgery in the morning in Florida - she has a serious condition with her heart - please keep her in your prayers
1/19 - Marian Peltcs - is in the Hospital in Florida with heart issues - we will let you know of any updates
1/14 - Robin Reed (Mary's daughter) - is having a serious surgery tomorrow - she is paraplegic & is having alot of serious health issues - please pray for her physically & spiritually healing 
1/14 - Wendy Fields (Shirley Aites's great niece) - diagnosed with Leukemia
1/14 - Nancy Zacherl's 29 yr. old son, Josh - is having a hard time - also prayers for his salvation - he has been wanting to go back to church;  let's pray that this happens
1/14 - Bertie Douglas from Parker (Nancy Zacherl's friend) - has been is Presby Hospital for over a month - she has a flesh eating bacteria & they may have to amputate her right leg - also pray for financial burdens & for her salvation
1/14 - Deb Ochs - Stage 1 liver disease needs no treatment - follow up tests will be done in 6 months -she does have an endoscopy coming soon - pray for good results
 1/14 - Barry Williams is still in the hospital with little improvement
1/12 - Herb Burns' address: UPMC Passavant Hospital - 9100 Babcock Blvd. - Pittsburgh, PA 15237 - ICU Bed 7 ...If you could send him a card that would be great; he is not allowed love flowers
1/9 - a few years ago a family came into the church for some help & through the Ministerium we were able to get them gas vouchers to go to Pittsburgh Hospital - they are requesting prayer for their son,  Adam Kearns-Isley (31 yrs. old & had two brain aneurysms back to back three years ago) - he is lucky to still be alive, but he has hit another bump in the road & will need surgery again - he is going into Presby Hospital in Pittsburgh Jan. 12 - 15 for testing & to schedule surgery - pray for this young man - it is an honor for this family to call on the churches of the area to pray
1/8 - Glenn Radaker (Pat's son) - is in the Clarion Hospital having problems with a bad knee, lung problems & arthritis
1/7 - Cindy Criley (Sharon Fredericks sister) - is back in the hospital - she has a CT Scan scheduled for January 13th - please remember her in prayer & to also lift her up during all the Chemo treatments
1/7 - Continue to remember Herb Burns - he is still in the hospital & is having some serious issues - we will keep you updated
1/7 - Noah Anthony (Tammy McClaine's nephew) - is back in Children's Hospital w/low platelets - he is special needs & has alot of difficulties
1/7 - Eddie Moore (police officer & Tammy McClaines brother in law from Indiana) - is scheduled for back surgery January 15th - he has been in pain for 2 months waiting for the surgery
1/7 - please be safe traveling - the weather here in Clarion has been pretty bad all day
1/6 - Barry Williams (family friend of Janet Norris) - has been hospitalized with pneumonia - he will also have to start a regular dialysis program as what he was doing is not working
1/6 - Barry Williams (family friend of Janet Norris) - has been taken to the Hospital & is barely breathing
1/6 -  Herb Burns - is going back into surgery - he is bleeding & they can't get it to stop - please continue to pray for Herb
1/5 - Heather Preston - will be having surgery tomorrow @ the Butler Hospital

1/5 - Marta Adams - is going through a high risk pregnancy - also her son, Austin is having surgery today

Pastor Angela's Message - January 2015

This time of year is a great time for reflection.  As I have journeyed through this life I have learned how important it is to reflect upon the past.  Where has God moved in my life?  What has He done? What miracles have taken place?  How has He revealed Himself to me?  Revisiting the past can help us to see the Hand of God at work and remind us of His love and care for us even when we may have felt abandoned or left to fend for ourselves.

In Joshua chapter 4, Joshua is instructed to take 12 stones from the middle of the Jordon where they passed on dry ground and place them together as a remembrance of how the Lord dried up the waters and His people were able to cross on dry ground.  God told them to do this as a memorial for their children and grandchildren to be reminded of God’s care and provision.  We often take this time of year and make resolutions for our future.  We go on diets, we begin vigorous exercising schedules, and we pledge to give up chocolate.  Our resolutions are endless.  What if we made an altar of praise?  How about taking time to reflect on how God has taken care of the difficulties in our lives and explore how we can grow our faith and encourage one another in the Spirit of God?

Let’s not be like the Israelites who over and over were rescued by the hand of God, taken out of captivity and quickly forgot His goodness.  It seems as if the Israelites no sooner were redeemed that they wandered away from God, forgetting His love and mighty power.  

Look at the challenges of the past year and the miracles that God performed in your lives.  Take time to praise Him and remember His amazing love for you.  What a change we could make in our community if we were less focused on improving ourselves and more focused on the work of God and His great provision.   As you reflect upon his gifts, be an encouragement and share with those around you.      
Reflect, Remember, Respond, Receive, Rejoice and Reach others with God’s Blessings.

Pastor Bruce's Message - January 2015

Dear Friends,

By the time you read this Newsletter, Christmas will be over, and the dust will have settled, and we will be looking forward to the New Year. I hope with great anticipation. The dictionary defines the word anticipation as: “the act of looking forward; especially: pleasurable expectation.” The opening words to the song “Anticipation” sung many years ago by Carly Simon, and also used as a theme song for Heinz   Ketchup, say; “We can never know about the days to come. But we think about them anyway.” The Bible term for this word anticipation, that we focus our lives on is FAITH. The Bible even defines it. Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1 ESV.

We spend a lot of time living with anticipation. We have goals, we have plans for our lives, our family’s lives, our work and our plans to better ourselves. So we live with those thoughts in mind. And by the way, there is certainly nothing wrong with that. I would submit to you that as Christians, the terminology should be FAITH. We should being living out our lives in faith.

The Liberty Street Church of God, made up of all of us individuals and families, took what we would consider a major step of faith in planning and now building the new facility, the Trinity Point Church of God. We have plans, we have blueprints, we have the material and someday in the near future this will be a reality not only for us but also for our community. A much needed addition to our community. We are doing this by faith. We are believing that this is what God is calling us to do at this point in time and we are trusting in Him to inspire us to see it through. We are hoping for a good result, we are believing that many lives will be affected as a result of the sacrifices called is calling us to make. We have a conviction for God and the work of the Kingdom and we have a conviction that God is going to do more than we could ever ask of imagine. In fact the Scripture verse says, “Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20-21 ESV)

I am looking forward, with anticipation, to what this New Year will bring with respect to ministry. I am and we are walking in FAITH!

Judy and I, and our children, want to thank you all for your gifts and expression of love to us over the Holidays. We continue to be humbled by your love for us and you are great encouragers to us.

I know that many in our congregation are struggling with many issues that life brings us. But I hope and pray that you still have the joy of the Lord. Nehemiah said, “The joy of the Lord is our strength.” I am claiming that today for you and for me.

12/23 - Baby Anna has finished her 72 hours of cooling - the MRI shows a small amount of blood on her brain, the doctors are not worried about this blood - she is responding completely normally & should be discharged in 1-2 days - Praise God for this Christmas miracle
12/23 - Ariana Evans - is in the Presby Hospital in Pittsburgh - she had a stroke & is in need of prayers
12/22 - J.J. & Samantha Ferguson on the birth of their second daughter, Rylan Noelle - she weighed 6lb 2oz. & was 20 inches in length
12/22 - Brad Harriger is back at Clarview - please continue prayer for Brad and Maxine too
12/22 - Ronda Carpenter (Lynne Walters daughter) - is in need of prayer - a lot of tests are being run - she is running a temp &has some other issues
12/19 - Baby Anna (parents are Preston & Lindsay and Grandparents are Lori & Dr. Wagner; they belong to Brookville COG) - Baby Anna had complications at delivery & had to be resuscitated at birth - she has been sent to Childrens where they are trying to cool her body down to minimize any possible brain damage 
12/19 - Jessica Anderton - in her late 20's & from the Greenville area - is having serious complications from surgery
12/16 - Pastor Bruce's Sister, Wanda Mae, has asked for prayer for her Step Granddaughter, Kelly Ducham - Kelly is 25 & has had pneumonia & now has a lung infection
12/15 - Duane Troutman - was taken back to Butler Hospital 
12/15 - Brad Harriger is back in Clarion Hospital
12/15 - Clarence Evans - has been sent to Jefferson Manor; please pray for Clarence & Shirley 
12/11 - Clarence Evans - was discharged from the hospital and is now at home
12/11 - Duane Troutman - had a stint put in & is in the Butler Hospital - supposed to get home tomorrow
12/11 - Erica Vanwart (29 year old Mother of 2 & friend of Connie Minich's daughter) - had a heart attack & is waiting on a heart transplant- she also had some brain damage
12/11 - Duane & Thelma Miller's son (Mike Miller) - has a very important unspoken request
12/9 - John (JJ) Johnson (Superintendent @ C-L) - is in the hospital with extremely high blood pressure
12/9 - Janet Norris's daughter Deb - is having a liver biopsy Friday at Dubois.  
12/8 - Thelma Miller - was taken to the Emergency Room at Seneca - having alot of problems with her leg - pray for Duane too, he is really nervous
12/6 - Mary Reed's father-in-law -  passed away
12/6 - Mary Reed's daughter Robin - is having a difficult time
12/2 - Jonatha Ochs - knee replacement surgery at Meadville this morning - came through the surgery well - continue to remember her in prayer
12/2 - Debbie Jordan is doing well - she is being observed & it looks like there will be some changes in her medication
12/1 - Debbie Jordan - has been taken to the ER in Butler -probably heart related
12/1 - Eddie Moore (Tammy McClaine's Brother in Law) - is a police officer near Indianapolis & while chasing a criminal through wet cornfields he fell/hurt his back very bad - herniated disc & other back injuries - hasnt been able to move alot/that has caused a blood clot in his leg - he was transferred to a larger hospital in Indiana - Eddie is a christian & wonderful mentor in his department - we are praying for healing -  he is also a diabetic
11/22 - Michele - just diagnosed with multiple myeloma cancer

Words from Pastor Angela - December 2014

What a fantastic weekend we had at Thirst!   We took 20 students & 5 adults to join approximately 600 other teens & chaperones for a weekend of worship. 

The topic was REAL. 
Realizing God's plan
Experiencing God's love
Accepting God's call
Living with real integrity

Our young people learned that God has a plan for each & every one of them. They were encouraged to explore God's love through His Word & break free from the distorted view they've had of God's love. 
Each one was encouraged to accept God's call on their lives and learn to distinguish His voice through time spent with Him.  Finally, we were directed to live with real integrity, to reach out to others & lead them to Christ no matter how lowly we think we are. 
We need to let go of the excuses that we're not good enough, smart enough, strong enough. God made us good enough to do whatever He's called us to do.
Make conversation with our teens about their weekend.   Encourage them to spend time with the Lord and be all God's created them to be. 

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever!  Amen.     Ephesians 3:20

You are important to us & we need to keep you updated on all activities!

How to go Online to see the Church Directory....
To see the Church Directory online we have to go thru the blog b/c the directory is a PDF file.  First go to www.clarionchurchofgod.blogspot.com & http://directory.instantchurchdirectory.com/73945862/churchdirectory.pdf.   then scroll down until you see the link to the Church Directory.  You will need to call the Church Office @ 226-8672 to get the password.  This is due to your privacy.  You may also load an APP for your smartphone.  In the APP's, search for instantchurchdirectory & follow the instructions to download.  If you wish to have a printed hard copy, contact Tammy in the Church Office.  This is an ongoing process as we add new families weekly.  Please let us know of any updates or corrections.

We are offering a "Live Worship Telecast" in the Fellowship Hall to help accommodate the seating needs of our growing church!  Praise the Lord!  Anyone is welcome to check it out & share in this new Worship extension.   With video recording of the service in this way, we will also be able to improve our outreach to our shut-ins by giving them our worship on DVD. Finally, if you are absent from church on Sunday & would like a copy of any of our Sunday morning sermons, please call the church office. We would be happy to send you one. 

WWCH Channel 1300 on AM Broadcasting @ 11AM every Sunday...  The first Sunday of every month a pre-recorded service from Liberty Street Church of God with Pastor Bruce will be heard.  If you are unable to attend church on any Sunday morning, tune in to AM 1300.

WEATHER CANCELLATION - if we have bad weather or if it is calling for bad weather, please go to radio station WCCR 1300 AM for church cancellations.  We will also put out cancellations by email.

We are sponsoring Angel Tree Ministries to benefit local children whose parent is incarcerated this Christmas Season.  The Angels on the tree will have a child's name, age, & a suggestion of the gift to give them.  Please wrap your gift & place the paper angel on your gift for identification.  Please have your gift to the Church Office by Wednesday, 12/17.  


December 5 & 6 - Live Nativity @ the Clarion Memorial Park from 6-8 pm (across from the Court House).  We need help to make this a success w/the potential to reach the lost during this holiday season.  Please consider giving a little time to be a character, help dress the characters, sing in the choir, provide child care, drive the van or just fellowship together.  We are also in need of cookie donations.  Those that are participating, we ask you to bring a covered dish to share.  Sign-ups are in the Welcome Center.  Make this a family memory as you begin this Holiday Season!!

December 7 - immediately following Sunday Morning WorshipCongratulations to Dave & Hope Eggleton on the birth of their 2nd daughter, Lilyana Hope.  In honor of Lilyana, we will be having a baby shower for her & mommy.  All ladies are invited to join us in this celebration.  Proud big sister Aribella welcomed the new little addition home.  
December 14th - Children's Musical Christmas Program @ 10am - under the direction of Barbi Milliron.  (pre-school through 6th grade)  We will be practicing during the second half of Sunday School & during Sunshine Club each Sunday morning through December 14th.

December 15 - Women's Night Out Christmas Party @ 6pm - please bring a gift for your Secret Sister & if you don't have a Secret Sister then bring a $10 gift for someone.  Each lady is asked to bring a covered dish.
December 19 @ 6:00-10:00 pm - Parents Night Out --- Sign up sheet in the Welcome Center
December 24th @ 7pm - Christmas Eve Service - Candlelight & Carols

The Fruit of the Spirit Food Pantry... It takes a village:  We can have a mission service right here in our own community!  Help! To make the Fruit of the Spirit Food Pantry happen the following needs to happen...
Collection of the following items: (**in need of )
Cannned meats-tuna, chicken, salmon, stew, chili, etc.
**Canned soups, ravioli, spaghetti
Canned fruits, and vegtables
Peanut butter and jelly
**Pastas to include macaroni and cheese, hamburger helper, rice dishes
**Pasta sauce
Bisquick and other mixes
**Healthy cereals and instant oatmeal
Non food items: deodorant, soap, laundry detergent, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes
**Monetary donations to be used for food vouchers at Comet
Drop off items in the church garage.  Prayers are appreciated.  We want to show the community that we serve with the fruits of the spirit.  The pantry will be available to anyone in the community anytime the office is open.  We would like to staff the pantry with volunteers in the evening, so the community  has contact with children of God! Anyone wanting to decorate the garage with the fruits of the spirit is welcome. It is currently being cleaned out and set up.  If you are called to give, a suggestion would be to place an item or items each week on your own grocery list or donate monetarily a set amount in your budget (even if it is a dollar...there is a box for this either in the office or at the welcome table).
Please forward this info to any family or friends you feel would want to serve as well.This does not have to just be a church mission, but a community one!!!!!  A big special thank you already to those that have helped get to this point... The Council, Pastor, Laura, Jenna, Clyde,  Kay, Comet Warehouse, and God!

Comet will be monitoring the vouchers and reporting any misuse.

The Library has a lot if duplicate books.  If you would like to check the book truck in the Library to see if there are any you want, please help yourself.  More will be put out over the winter.

If you are interested in being in a Women's Prayer Group, there is a sign-up sheet in the Welcome Center.


Are you looking for a Ministry to be involved in?? - We are in need of men & women that would be interested in transporting elderly to appointments occassionally.  Sometimes they may need to go to Pittsburgh.  Please let the Church Office know if you would consider being on a list of names for us to call when the need arises.

Attention: Teachers, Nursery Workers & Volunteers -  If you have received your Child Abuse Clearance in the mail, please bring it to the church office ASAP.

We are in need of additional:

1) Nursery Workers - We are so blessed with lots of babies that we need more adult help.  Please see Michelle Aites if you are interested in helping w/Sunday School Nursery or Worship Nursery.

2) SonShine Club Workers - We are being blessed with more children in our Sonshine Club Ministry!  We are asking that anyone willing to come out of retirement (teaching Sonshine Club) or looking for a new ministry (teaching Sonshine Club) , please see Hayley Jeannerat. You can call her @ 764-5390 or the church office @ 226-8672 or email her @ hayleydj@windstream.net.  
If you are already on the schedule, Hayley will need to know your intentions for the upcoming year.
There are 2 groups - Younger (3yr. - Kind.) & Older (1st - 3rd gr.).  Because of age, helpers are placed with the younger group.  No need to worry about preparing a lengthy lesson.  Hayley makes a 6 month rotation schedule & currently teachers are teaching every 5 - 6 wks., but if there were more volunteers you would teach less often.  What a blessing to see children learn of our wonderful Savior.
